Windows dvd maker

I have .AVI files on ym harddrives that are HUGE because they were TOTALLY uncompressed when exported (For maximum quality).

My external hardrives are running out of space and I need to burn these videos to DVD to remove them and make space on my HDs.

I just got a new DVD burning comp. The Windows Media Player plays the .AVI file's video and audio, but it jumps and lags as if it can barely handle it. Windows DVD Maker doesn't play the files at all and says there's an error every time I try to burn it to DVD.

I think I need codecs. I've been looking for codecs for this issue online for almost a YEAR (Or more) and not ONCE have I come across one that works from Divx to homesmades.

Is there ANY CODEC that cures this issue? Please don't send me on a run-around, d-loading a tun of random Codecs to SEE if they work, seriously, I need help :(

If you're on Premiere, the codec is most likely in the YUV lossless format in which case you're pretty much screwed because only Adobe products (Premiere, Encore, After Effects) is going to read those files. Your only option would be to load them back into Premiere and render it out using the Microsoft Avi option with the Compressor set to None, then it should be universally compatible (although it still is not going to play smoothly because the bitrate is too high). Make sure not to use the Uncompress Avi option in the future unless you're working between Adobe products.
