Wind protection

Hi there, I'm new to this forum, I'm looking for a good wind protection kit for my shotgun NTG2 and hyper AT4053B, since shotgun mic has a small rear pick-up pattern, is it neccessary to use a full windshield? Rode has one called Blimp, Rycote looks better but much more expensive! any suggestions/comments on this?

How about the hyper mic? for indoor use, I may be swing the mic a bit so will a babyball gag work?
and also can anyone recommend me a good boom pole... the one I'm using (2m rode micro) is a a bit short... thanks a lot :)

Hi marvinhello, welcome to the forum.

The Rycote S-series is actually cheaper than the Røde Blimp, has a much better suspension and is lighter as well. That's the one I would go for.

Yes, the Rycote full windshield kit is the best there is; but a bit expensive for an inexpensive NTG-2, so I would get the S-series.

The AT4053B will also have a small rear pick-up, like the gun mic.. If you are not using them at the same time it will also fit the S-series as you got for the NTG-2. Otherwise a Baby Ball Gag and Windjammer will do fine (I have just got these for my Soundfield SPS200.
