Wind noise ? Blimp?

Shot my first and only short film last October in a cemetery. I would like to film my next short, longer (20 minutes), mostly taking place outdoors and partly along Lake Superior. I am worried about wind noise -- scares me off a bit from doing the film, i.e. I dream of doing a short film all indoors with controlled weather, light, and audio. Is there anything I can do to prevent wind noise if there is wind on a shooting day? I of course would use a wind sock on the mic, get the mic as close as possible to the talent, but what about blimps? I have seen pictures of blimps but never used one, would a blimp significantly cut down on wind noise?
