Wind loud crazy blowing wind

Wondering if anyone cold help me out in post, I shot using the dvx100a and the evolution lav mic with the ME2 mic on the transmitter with a wind screen. But the wind was really kickin and definitly is all over my audio track. Any post advice on tweaking out some that wind noise?

New to audio so any advice would be good advice.

Use an equalizer (or EQ plug-in on your NLE) and cut the bass frequencies. Kill everything below 200hz, maybe 250hz... That should get rid of a lot of wind rumble without affecting dialogue much at all.

All DVX Book/DVX DVD orders, current and back-ordered, will be sent by 11/15, so you would have it by 11/19, and maybe sooner.

Cut off everything below 200Hz, but don't go any higher than that. You risk getting into dialogue with that. If that doesn't help, you may be S.O.L. It's harder than you think to get rid of wind and keep the dialogue sounding natural.

Hi John

It was actually my assitants job on that particular camera, he was using headphones. Is there something I can do to reduce the noise during the shoot? We were looking at roughly at winds around 20-25mph.

I agree with Barry "Get a big furry, like a Rycote Softie, it'll cut wind noise tremendously..."

You were using a Lav mic were'nt you? Maybe try and position the talent away ffrom the wind? :-/

I like the squirrel but I think they are all union now, maybe if we tap the beaver market?

Very true John, I think my second unit did not take what they were hearing serious enough. Unfortunatly every one assumes post is a magical land where everything can be fixed.
Which is partly true ;)

Thanks guys I will check out the big 'furry' I do so much work by the beach its silly not to invest into wind protection.

Yes, on a serious note I own a Rycote sofie and works flawlessly in windy situations. It'll block wind pretty good but it can't block a moving deseil truck sound.
