Hi there,

I'm reading all the posts and this time, I'm still a bit confused. I own wireless mics and use them when the situation allows, but I need a boom mike.

I'll spend around $1000 give or take a few dollars. (hopefully including shock mount and softie)

What boom mic would you recommend for capturing dialog on set?

1. Oktava MK-012, or
2. Oktava MK-319, or
3. Audio Technica AT4073

OR is there better options I should look at ?

I don't like the ME66, so that's out (maybe I just don't know how to use it properly, but I just don't like it, no disrespect).

thanks for the help,
Derrick

or let's say I go fot this suggestion.

Includes: Audio Technica 4073a Shotgun Mic ($500), Oktava MK012 w/ Hyper Cardiod Cap ($180), Rycote BBG ($100), Rycote Softie ($100), KteK KSSM ($100), Gitzo Carbon Fiber Boom Pole ($300) Total Cost: $1280

which is best indoors, and which outdoors?

thanks,
Derrick

generally speaking shotgun outdoors, hyper indoors. This is NOT a rule to live by though. Use what sounds best. I think that package would be good for quite a few different situations. I might add the windjammer for the BBG though. And maybe switch the softie to a Ktek Zeppelin. And a variety of XLR lengths if you dont have them. And if you dont already have a good pair of headphones for the boom op to monitor with then, definitely add those in too. Sony 7506s do me quite well and are only $90 or so. Sennheiser has some good ones too, but I'm not familiar with model numbers.
