WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

Depp is a great actor, nobody can ever replace Gene, but now that I think of it Depp is a good choice. I had always felt the Wonka story needed to be explored more, cool though, will teh Oompa Loompa guys be in there.

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

What I like the most about the original wonka is the music. I still listen to the music till this day. Only difference is, I added a beat to it. You know, I gotsta bump that in my car. I don't know about the new music. I'm a big fan of Danny's but that just sounds too weird for me. Oh well, I'm still going to watch it. Yes, where are the umpa lumpas?

In MY Humble Opinion

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

I'm a huge fan of Depp, but in this preview he actually looked a little out of place. Cheesy facials and a bit stiff.

Gene wilder has always scared the **** out of me. He's just a bit off. But depp here didn't look any better. :P

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

Honestly i think Wonka is just supposed to scare the **** out of kids. make them subconciously make the decision not to be greedy? Anyways, i'm reading the fantastic mr. fox right now which Mr. ANDERSON will be directing and then I want to read the original charlie and the chocolate factory before Burton's comes out.

Yep. The orginal film was not really dark enough.

But I would have cast Christopher Walken.

But Depp is a younger version of Walken, anyway, so it might be ok.

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

The original Willy Wonka was a fairly bizarre childrens film for its time. From the preview, it looks like this will be even more bizarre. Todays children need more colors and hypnotic music to keep their attention. :)

Speaking of remakes. Spielberg's redoing War of the Worlds and the new trailer came out last week too. It's actually a really good teaser. Smart and gets you hungry for more. IMO.

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

This Wonka remake makes me cry myself to sleep at night. It's like a female Johnny Depp with midgets running around a river of chocolate...

Add Elfman to the mix (which i love btw), and it's a recipe for psychotic paranoia.

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

This thing is going to be so great.

If I remember correctly (which I might not) the oompa loompas were slaves. Like portrayed as slaves that were beaten and over worked.

Man he Depp looks creepy, I love the shot when he's looking through the window with those huge sunglasses. Brilliant.

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

Depp is so cool. This is totally unexpected after Pirates. Yet, this is so Depp. All they need is smooth Asian guy in the mix (for you BS) ;)

I don't think an Asian guy would fit in a wonka movie. I could though see an Asian umpa lumpa with martial arts skills. Hey I could do a movie bout that. ;)

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

depp is brilliant indeed...cant wait to see him in this - i think his performance is gonna make or break the film

Re: WILLIE WONKA OH MY LORD

Here's a slightly old piece of news about an incident that happened whilst filming Wonka...

Chocolate-dipped Panavision

The remake of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" experienced a delay on Wednesday (months ago...) when a worker dropped a $540,000 camera lens in a vat of chocolate. The technician had failed to properly secure his wire-held camera, and watched aghast as it plunged into the 3-feet-deep tank.

One source on the English set says, "When the camera fell it was like a slap-stick scene straight from the movie.

"A team of riggers had come in specially from the States to set it up over the vat of synthetic chocolate. But someone made a mistake and it wasn't secured properly.

"The production team didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The camera is probably beyond repair."

A film spokesperson adds, "Technical tests were being carried out to see how close the camera could be moved to the chocolate.

"A camera did go into the liquid owing to a mechanical fault."

The film is being shot by cinematographer Philippe Rousselot ("Big Fish", "Antwone Fisher") . Camera department personel include Rene Adefarasin (2nd AC), and John Conroy (1st AC).

(The above story came from Cinematography.com)

I remember that... man that sucks. That guy is going to be black listed in Hollywood forever.
