will Vegas support 25p

Hi There,

I shoot on my DVX100AE - PAL camera in 25p and was wondering if Vegas supports editing in 25p.

Vegas's website mentions support for 24p DV support but does not mention 25p DV support.

Would somebody kindly throw some light on this.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

24p is a big thing for NLE support because it is so awkward!

Not so with us PAL people. We have a sensible system which requires nothing special to edit and no silly pull-down issues. :)

So to get Vegas to treat your clips properly, just right click on the 25p clips, go to 'properties' and in the field order box change it to 'progressive scan'. Et voila, 25p editing.

24p is not awkward in and of itself. It's a bit challenging for video editing because it's so different from the NTSC TV standard for which video equipment was first developed.

Film and TV were developed independently, of course. In the PAL world, the film standard was cheated by a frame in order to better match the later-developed TV standard.

Great news man, thank you so much. It might sound strange but besides all odds I decided to go in for the PAL camera even though I am in Canada the NTSC land. And, I do NOT regret!

Cheers

25P works great. Everything I do is 25P (PAL camera), though I do some transfers to 24P for clients.

24p is very awkward with all the different variations of speed. 24fps 23.97fps, two different types of pulldown. It comes across as very cumbersome to me.

Hmmm....i just downloaded the trial version of Vegas, quick question.
I have clips that I had captured using Adobe Premiere6, which if I am not wrong, does not support 25p editing. So now, can I use the same clips, that I captured using Premiere6, and use those in Vegas or will I have to re-capture all the footage from the master tape, using Vegas.

Thanks

Cheers!!
