Will this work? Sennheiser, headphone splitter , AG 100

Hi,

Getting ready for a short this Saturday. I had a similar thread but am using a different way to connect to a camera. I am concerned about damaging the sennheiser so I wanted to ask specifically about this combo - sorry for a similar but different thread.

We are recording on a 3 channel mixer - going through a tascam dr 40 (2 channel). We would like a scratch track for the AG 100 (possibly even relying on it if it sounds good).

I have this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...NL3_5MON_WHH4NL3_5MON_Line_to_Microphone.html

It splits the headphone tap into 2 lines. One female and one male. The female would receive the headphone jack.

With the male end I was going to buy a double female connector. The connect it to the male end of the 3.5 that would connect to a Sennheiser G2 transmitter.

I would then use the Sennheiser receiver with its XLR plug and put it into the Panasonic AG 100.

The tape return/mic out of the mixer is damaged so I have been relying on the tascam dr 40 for audio.

Will this be ok?

Thanks!

Why not monitor with headphones through the DR-40, and send the wireless hop through the Mixer's headphone output?

I don't think you need the fancy splitter/attenuation cable. Just use a regular Y-cable, and set the output to headphone out. The attenuator cable drops the line level output to mic level, but the DR-40 already has that option built in.

The DR40 only has an XLR / 1/4" balanced mic input so a properly wired cable would be needed. The DR100 has an 1/8" unbalanced input addition to XLRs as I recall.

But we're looking for an output, not an input, right? We're trying to get a wireless hop from the recorder/mixer to the AF100.

Hi, I already have that splitter cable that I linked to above. Trying to get the signal from the dr 40 headphone jack to the Panasonic AG 100 via a sennheiser g2 set.

Right, I'm saying I think you don't need a line-to-mic attenuator, just a regular splitter. The DR-40 outputs a regular headphone signal OR a line level signal. You need a headphone level signal for both your headphones and the transmitter, so why output line level at all?

oh so just a regular splitter is fine? If I use what I already have (the one I linked) will it damage anything? I don't want to damage the sennheiser in any way. Thanks, I really appreciate the time and advice everyone has given.

There is no way to damage the transmitter, especially if you are sending it mic-level signals. You can also bypass the female coupler, and just plug the adapter's male end into the transmitter directly.

To get the DR40's HP output to the G2/3 body-pack transmitter, an attenuation cable... or a 'line level' cable would be needed for the transmitter. (3.5mm TRS Ring connector wired hot) The EK100 portable receiver can output mic level, so no attenuation is needed on the camera end.
Search this and the DVI audio forum for more info.
