Will this shotgun mic work with the dvx?

My brother is in town.* He brought a shotgun mic that he is willing to sell.
He has: D-600 AKG - Made in Austria
Shotgun Mic
No Power Needed
Pistol grip
Can be mounted to a pole or hand held.
3 DB settings
It has no wind screen -- But you can use an 816

My real estate agent's dad and family I guess you'd say where and are soundmen.
They done features and TV shows.

I'm not an expert on audio...
I have a call into her to get the brand name of the mic.

Tried to use search but maybe its just me, but I never have much luck with it. I'll do a google search as well after posting this.

It's a Sennheiser.

But still any word on will this will work from you audio guys would be helpful.

Never heard of it. Sounds like a mismatch part number/manufacturer.

Sony BVW-D600 is a Betacam.
Sennheiser HD600 are headphones.
AKG D600 returned no relevant results in my brief Google search.

Perhaps this fellow has a Sony Betacam with an AKG mic on it? AKG is a good brand.
Then, there's the Dell D600 desktop computer.....

They only own sound equipment. From Dats to Nagra's... actually I think she told me he only has a really old Nagra left...

My agent's dad did shows from I Love Lucy to Witness to Seventh Heaven.

I'll just wait for her call. Maybe she got the numbers wrong when she talked to her brother.

But on Sunday she said her dad was in one of those moods of his.

He's in his eighties now. She says it funny he has these mood swings where he gets bitter about being in the business and he's in one of those now.

Always how sound was put in last place, it was always picture and camera first...

She used to be in video. When I showed her my DVX she really liked it. When she was telling her dad about the camera.

He barked at her... "Well, he does know how to light for sound doesn't he?"

She says he's just getting old.

So maybe in all this, she messed up the numbers...
