Will This Deck Work Properly

Steer clear from this product with a 10-foot pole. I've heard of nothing but compatibility and functionality issues with this deck. These are from people I know, and what I have seen on different discussion forums. It's $400.00 for a reason.

Honestly, if you're looking into a miniDV VTR deck, expect to pay more than $1000.00 for a descent one. I recommend looking into a DSR 11, (Skip the DSR 25, has the same motor as the 11. Only difference is the LCD monitor) For the extra $1000, you can get a nice small viewing monitor much cheaper. The DSR 40 or DSR 45, or if you can find one... A Sony DR5. (It can output a miniDV/DVCAM/VHS to your editor and has firewire) But it does not "capture" DVCAM. AND... the buttons are in Japanese.

I myself have a DSR 40 at home, and use a DSR 45 at work. They are both very robust and awesome machines.
 
And if you are still pretty adoment about spending under $1000... I suggest buying some $300 miniDV cam with firewire. That should last you a good 4 months-year depending how much tape you capture and if it's a straight capture or batch capture.
