no really, yes the magnet will phuck up the tape and I wouldn't get it near the DVX just to be safe.

Thanks I was just wondering if there was a difference between the old tapes and the new Digital tapes.

Tapes are a magnetic media.

I got some goofy-ass magnets off ebay a couple years ago. Just type in "neodymium" and look at the TON of 'em on there! After all my friends got severe bruises and blood blisters I finally got rid of 'em. LOL... My cousin thought he would show his girlfriend how stong they were by putting one on either side of her arm (and they'll hold together)... well the dumba$$ didn't realize that GRAVITY still works so when she held her arm up they slid around and WHACK!... blood blister souvenier from Matt's house. :'(

Seems to me, though I don't have it at hand, that there is a warning in the DVX manual regarding this very phenomena.
Ahh... I found the manual. on page 7 (DVX100) it sayeth " Thou shalt never lobeth the holy hand grenade at a DVX lest you..." Damn wrong book. Page 7 says keep away from magnetic fields, TV's, game machine etc.

Sorry, I was thrown for a moment by that damned purple thing dancing one post up!
