Will loud sound damage DVX100's internal audio rec system?

I was wondering if loud sound can cause damage to the audio recording system inside the dvx100? I just recorded some real gun fire scenes, and I haven't yet had the chance to check it. Today I started to wonder if those loud sounds could pose harm to the audio recording system in the camera? Please let me know. Thanks.

Can't say for certain but my guess is damaging the camera isn't very likely but the mic could be another story.
 
You can certainly damage the mic but as long as the gun is far enough away the risk is minimal. Your hearing would take a hit too. Most blanks (should) use a half or quarter charge which further minimizes the risk.

You should be using a trained gun speacilist anytime you are dealing with live ammo and he should be able to answer all your concerns about db levels for the type of ammo you are using in your environment.

I've already shot the footage a while ago. I'm just getting paranoid now that's why i'm asking lol. I want to know for sure if the audio recording system inside the DVX100b has been compromised or not. How do I know?

I turned my camera on, and the audio meter works OK when I snap my fingers or talk.

I put on a pair of headphones so I can hear the sound... and in a fairly quiet small room, with the audio gain control switch set in the middle and the Automatic Level Control set to off, I hear sound noise.

Now, I don't remember if it was like that when I first got the camera or not. Can someone tell me, if they put on good quality headphones and set the audio switch on the middle, is it normal to hear sound noise on the on camera mic?
