Will Dell 20" LCD Suffice for 720p?

Hello. This is my first post post at DVXUser. My question is this...

If I only plan on shooting 720p (never 1080), then would the Dell 20" LCD (2005FPW) suffice as a 1:1 pixel accurate confidence monitor? I would be using FCP 5 and with the "Desktop Cinema" option for preview (using the DVI connection of the monitor, not the component - no HD card required). Doess the 16:10 pixel aspect ratio of the monitor result in noticable image alteration from the native 16:9 footage.

Rationale:
1. The 24" Dell cost twice as much as the 20".
2. The 24" is overkill re: resolution requirement of 720p
3. Using DVI and Desktop Cinema option only requires a DVI connection and avoids the expense of a HD card (ie. AJA, Blackmagic) and the HD component connection found only in the 24" Dell.

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Nick.

last I heard the 24´´ was way better for editing. search the forum and you will find it.

But would the 24" really be better than the 20" if a person only wanted to display 720p via Desktop Cinema Display on FCP.

Cheers,
Chris

the 20" should be fine for 720 stuff. I was considering that myself, but I bought the Dell 2405 as I have some friends with other 1080 cameras and I also wanted that as an option. IF cash is king... then the 20 inch would be fine. Shoot, my CRT would handle it.. but who wants one of those anymore.. Yuck

Guys,
a frienjd of mine bought this monitor and is VERY happy with it:

It's a 32" LCD HD capable monitor, and he says it looks gorgeous.
$899- and it used to have a mail-in rebate.

I'm planning on buyinjg one for watching regular tv- then sneaking it downstairs to my computer station.
