Will a fluid head fit in any legs?

Hey

I have some pretty good tripod legs that i want to put a fluid head on. The legs are from a Quantaray QSX-DigiPro 8500 Tripod - and i just need to know if something like a manfroto or bogen head will fit on there? If so, what do i need to make it work?

Thanks!

There are multiple mounts my friend. 75mm ball, 100mm ball, as well as 150mm and Mitchell/Flat mounts. So that's 4 different options.

A lot of bogens aren't true fluid heads. That tripod you showed is not for fluid head tripods. It's for flat heads which are typically fine for photogs. Anyway... what Bogen are you looking at and that'll help us tell you what to get. Personally, I'd get a kit system with tripod and head not just head, but that's just me.

Thanks for the info!

If i were to go down the complete tripod kit, and for a budget, what would people recommend?

I don't do too much tripod work, but enough to need a head that can cope with things like focus changes (everytime i change the focus with my current one i get a shake - regardless of how careful i am with it).

Thanks

I'd consider Libec LS38. Have heard rave opinions about it - real fluid head, absolutely no driftback, stiff 2-stage legs... People say its counter spring is too strong for bare dv camcorder, though (you need to put more stuff on it, like mattebox and/or DOF adapter for better tilting balance).
Tomorrow I'm going to the shop to try it.
