Wifi in the states

Como's back. back again
Hey guys,

I'm from Canada traveling to the states for a week, and I got a travel pack which includes 10mb of data...

If I find a wifi zone, will I get that for free, or will my Rogers bill kill me? I'm just not sure if the travel pack includes this.

Thanks,

Robbie

I believe Starbucks has free WiFi nowadays. Also Panera Bread. Lots of local coffee places as well. If you go to a major city, you shouldn't have a problem finding free wifi. Not sure what your plans are, but all hotels that I've been to offer free WiFi for guests.

If the wifi is free, and your phone has wifi, you shouldn't be using the cellular service at all.

Of course, you can just call Rogers and ask.

You won't get charged if you use wifi, but what I'd do is go into the menu and shut off data roaming, then activate it only when you need to go online away from a wifi connection. That way you won't have any nasty surprises when you get your bill. The charges can be steep.
