Soon after I moved to Canada, a black-eyed neighbor woman knocked on our door and ask to call the cops - the typical stuff, drunken boyfriend. She stayed at our place until they came. When they did (two guys and a woman), one of them was asking us on the side what we knew about it, if there were any drugs involved, and such. I said that I didn't know how I'd be able to tell if there were drugs. The police woman asked 'what are you doing in this neighborhood'?
Three weeks later, somebody was shot to death four houses down the street (unrelated case, though).
That was the day I did everything I could to move my family out of Windsor, Ontario (a.k.a. Detroit South).
To put it in other words - call the cops, and if you can, move away.
Well people who decide to beat up their girlfriends or wife seems to have very small balls. Come on a guy hitting a girl is not freaken cool. If my neighbor's boyfriend hits his girl, he's going to have about a mob of asian thugs after his sorry butt and I'll be right next door filming it with my DVX. Then I'll call the cops!

Anyone who abuses women are insecure/controlling and typically alpha in nature. I'd call the cops before something worse happens. Make it anonymous. One time, this was happening with our neighbors for a period; few times over a couple months, (long time ago in mission valley by qualcomm stadium) and I went over and banged on the door:
Dude opens door
Me: You wanna keep it down, we're trying to sleep. (I said so in a 'I dare you to say something' tone

myself and another female neighbor are actually also afraid he would do something to retailiate. something weird like break in and hang all her cats.
aside from him killing her, I am afraid he or she will go ballistic during a fight and drive his/her car into the side of the building where my computers and monitors are. (cameras are in Pelicans..phew)
either that or rip down the street and maul some kid on a tricycle.

ahhhh, classic Peckinpah 8)
Seriously though, if it's pretty bad, you should definitely call the cops. I wish my neighbors would have made the call when I was growing up.

We did a few months ago. And she filed a restraining order on him. He was back the next day. I couldn't figure out why she just didn't call the cops or kick his ass out..but I guess it is a lot more complex.
By all means, report future incidents to the police. You might also want to recommend she seek some counseling for battered and abused women. She'll need a support system to get out of a violent relationship safely. Many areas also have "safe houses" where women and chidren can disappear to if things get out of hand. If she swears out a complaint, he'll be arrested and it would be common for a restraining order to be put in place.

(1) 6'3 Canadian Polar Bear. but he is not always around.
Plus the shithead is a very stocky madman. He has some sort of vacuuming disorder and does laundry incessantly.

We told her all of that, but it doesn't seem to get through.
I also don't have much faith that if they take him away, he will stay locked up.

If you were a friend, you'd help......
not chat about it on a camera forum.......[/quote]
I am definitely not her friend and I really don't want to be. But at some point, you just can't sit there and listen to someone get the **** beat out of them. no matter who it is.
Sorry you have hassles Pooh. J gave you the best advise here. Especially "recommend she seek some counseling"
Domestic violence unfortunately rarely has a pleasant outcome. If the first restraining order was ignored, others will likely be as well. the victim must want and work for a resolution.

Apparently you're talking here to justify your intentions of doing nothing to help someone needing help.
I hope you feel better, you have to live with yourself.
