Wierd background noise on my H4n

In the first extract the weird sound is acoustic - possibly someone or something moving about in the back of the room. In the second extract all I hear (apart from the guitar!) is system noise, which could be the mic, the H4N pre-amps, inappropriate levels set by the user, or any combination of these things.

In both what I hear is this electrical whirring sound... Almost like an electrical interference. Like a swirling sound...I hear it on all my files :(

I don't hear that. It might be your monitoring. Try different software/computer/headphones/speakers (any or all of these).

So far I've tried playing it through windows media player, then through VlC Player. Heard it on both. Though I dont hear it with my head phones on the h4n.... But no other sound files make this sound ony computer either....

link doesn't work for me on post #2.
On the post #1 link/files, 007 has a guitar recorded extremely low (around -40dBFS) on the left channel; nothing but residual electronic hash noise on the right.
On file 000, residual noise + acoustically borne LF/LMF bumps and such.
Don't know what the OP means by "electrical whirring sound". Could be their PB system.

If you don't hear it on the H4N then it can't be on the files, I would have thought. Have you tried re-loading them from the H4N onto your computer? Maybe they got corrupted somehow... no, scrub that, it doesn't explain why no one else can hear it... I don't know... try those headphones on your computer?

So I listened closely today with the headphones on the H4N. I definitely don't hear what I do on my computer but I shear a hiss in its place, not loud mind you. Though my ears are listening for it. With the lav I hear more of a very soft high pitch hiss that sounds like a vacuum cleaner again though... Its soft but its there. Not sure why I am hearing that on my computer. Getting my laptop tomorrow will check on that as well

A D/A converter converts your digital signal (your wav file) into an analog signal that your headphones or speakers can deal with. Your H4N D/A converters are ok but not great, your computer's D/A converters are probably worse (at least it seems like it given the information you've given so far). So what you're probably hearing is unwanted system noise (hiss, basically) generated by low-quality D/A's. If that's the case, then the good news is your wav files don't contain that hiss, the bad news is that you need to invest is a higher quality sound card for your computer in order to reduce it.

Or, wait until your ears are 54 years old like I have, then you won't hear much of it either way.
