widest lens you can use

I have an HVX with a Redrock micro with the flip and all. I have a Nikon 17-35 F2.8 and im having trouble focusing it when its below 20mm. Am I doing something wrong or is that the lowest I can get. Also can I use a fish eye?

I think there is no specific lenth for using the adapter but just remember that the wider angle you use, you´ll lost the shallow depth of field you are looking with the adapter. I would prefer to shoot without the adapter and put in the camera a wide or fish-eye lens. I just use the adapter for close-up.

If you can't focus the lens, there's a solid chance you need to collimate the unit. You can check out our online video on the subject at our "video university" (different adapter) but I'd suggest you look up the information at Red Rock's site. I belive the process there is to take the unit apart and adjust the distance between the spinning disc and your lens mount. For a Nikon mount this distance is 46.5mm and it needs to be accurate, particularly with wide angle lenses. We call the adjustment micro-collimation...not sure what term RRM uses.

Cheers,
Dennis.
