Widest 2x Anamorphic Lens for Alexa?

What is the widest anamorphic lens that would fit an Alexa Studio?

The widest I've used is Hawk's 25mm.

Thanks,
Bern

Hey Bern,

Yeah, 25mm is the typical wide end for anamorphics. There are 20mm's out there. At Panavision, I think there is a C-series 20mm? Maybe part of another set.... Anyhow, that can fit an Alexa Studio, but it would obviously need to be a panavised Alexa.

I've heard of some 18mm's but despite not being able to recall any specifically, I think they were all conversions of already manufactured spherical lenses.

25 is likely the widest you'll find with ease and with good reason. I mean, it's got a horizontal FoV equivalent to a 12.5mm lens. Pretty wide.

I'll be at Panavision tomorrow, I'll check it out for ya.

Damn, even 25mm is pretty crazy wide IMO. I think 30-35mm is probably the widest I'd go on a 2x ana.

Yes. I was correct, it was a C-Series 20 mm lens. However after talking to someone at Panavision today I found out the lens is pretty rare. Should have known. He said there were only a handful in existence

Thanks Ryan!

Best,
Bern

PS Sorry for my delayed response. Had to red-eye LA>NYC for a 1/2 day shoot, then jump a flight to Detroit.

There's a PL mount 22mm t2.8 Lomo Square Front floating around at a local rental house. It gives an incredibly distorted image which looks awesome, but I would only use it for very specific effects.

I wouldn't use it often, but for the right effect it looks great. Used it on a RED recently, so I can't imagine why it wouldn't fit on an Alexa.

Hey, heard about the 22mm from LOMO for a very long time but never seen any footage from it before. Do you have any to share?
