Widescreen QT export?

Hi there,

I'm using Premiere Pro 1.5 and I have a widescreen project that I am trying to export out to a QT file in the same ratio, however, every time I try doing this (both using the built in export compressor and the Adobe Media Encoder), it does not render out in widescreen. It looks like it is rendering the file with square pixels (0.9) instead of 1.2, but I have the ratio setting to "same as project." I'm trying to get either a widescreen file or at least a 4:3 file with letterboxing. Any help would be wonderful.

While I'm here... this file is for the web, streaming hopefully, so are there any good suggestions for a compression recipe for a nice quality small QT? Thanks again!

upgrade to quicktime pro for 30.oo or whatever, and do the compression there. PPRO is not a great solution for quicktime compression. WM and other formats are great, but anything quicktime will just make you pull your hair out. quicktime pro is well worth the couple bucks to do quicktime compression.

If I purchase the upgrade, will I be able to access the QT Pro compression through PPRO, or will I have to render out an .avi, then go through QT Pro? Thanks for your suggestion!

Try exporting as a 4:3 project - Premiere should then center your widescreen movie on a 4:3 project - making it letterboxed (well that's what I do in PP 2.0)

you will have to export an final render, and then use that for compression in PPRO. you will not be able to access the better QT compression from within PPRO. i guess this hasnt really ever been an issue for me because i always want a full quality final render of anything i do anyway, so using it to generate the QT is pretty natural to my workflow. .. but the long and short of it is that the QT compression within PPRO plain bites unless your going with a very high bitrate, or using a naitive type compression for the files your working with. .. you can use much lower bitrates and get great results using QT pro. PPRO compresses WM9 and other files types excellent though.. it just QT thats all or nothing. Hopefully its better in CS3
