wideangle sunshade?

So I'm shooting a doc quite soon and a lot of the time will be spent in an RV or gazing at vast open landscapes such as grand canyon, hot air baloon ride, ext...

Am I wrong to consider shooting the whole time with a wide angle lense?
Should I get the .6x or the .7x?
Assuming I get one (I actually already tried but ran into a filter problem) what type of sunshade do you recommend so I can drop in a 4x4 polorizer or at least a UV to protect (ceratainly either or) and preferably both.

I don't have nor want the anamorphic (yet!) because I am not comfortable dealing with two fields of focus in such run and gun conditions. Thanks.

I have the .7x century adapter and have been looking for a similar solution. In my research i discovered that century has a sunshade with single stage 4x4 filter holder for about $400. The holder doesn't rotate so you couldn't use a polariser filter with it. I also looked at the formatt box about $400 two stage filters, one rotates, but there is some vignetting with the .7. At the moment I am considering the century dv matteboxes. There are two offered for about
(gulp) $1000. One has rails and the other doesn't

The .7x is zoom through, i don't think that the .6x is, if that helps.

It's quite feasible to leave the 0.7X model from Century Optics connected to the camera at all times, and actually encouraged. It's a beautiful lens.

Whats the advantage to the rails, and the not rails version of the two Centuries?

How many filters will those expensive things hold? I know the 4x4 filters can get pretty pricy too.

If I am shooting with two DVX's in certain and hopefully rare situations would it be unacceptable to inter cut footage one with the regular lens and one with the .7x wide angle?

Am I just digging a new expensive complication into my Doc? Or if I get these matt boxes and the appropriate filters will the footage be really worth it?

Content: a child's first glimpse and probably last at such sights as the grand canyon, Redwood forrest, Las Vegas, and a venture on a wheelchair accessible hot air balloon ride.

I know it is my opinionand call, but I haven't even seen the footage with a .7x. Please lend me your opinion. What would you do?
