Wide Angle

I'm still learning with my Canon Rebel XTi. The first image was taken with the stock 18-55mm lens. The second was taken with the Canon 15-30mm L USM lens. I'm debating investing in that lens, as I take a lot of interior photos.

Obviously there's a reason the lens costs more... it's better. But is it $1,500 better? Both these images show jagged edges, but in RAW format, the stock lens succumbs to these jagged edges, the Canon 15-30mm does not.

While I'm sort of on the subject, how do I compensate for the jagged edges when saving to something other than RAW format?

Both images used AWB. The first image had a 10 second exposure, the second was aim and shoot. The first one was on a tripod, the second one was not.

I just got a 17-35mm F2.8 Tamron lens that retails for 299 on b&h. Works great for regular stuff and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Right now vistek.ca has the Canon 16-35 f/2.8L USM for $1100 cdn which be the best of both worlds for you...

You may want to look into the Sigma 10-20mm if you want real wide, it's $500. Only thing though is that it's f/4-5.6 so if you're going to be using it mostly in low light one of the f/2.8 would be better.
