wide angle lenses

i was wondering what are all the options for wide angle lenes for a DVX 100a... I'm looking to buy a camera in the next month, wide angle lenses are one of my favorite things in the world, 700 bucks just seems steep so i'd like to hear what everyone thinks about wide angle lenses, which ones you use.... which ones you can zoom through... ect.. how much it costs

go to www.vfgadgets.com and check out the "red eye" wide angle adapter. It comes in a .5x, which increases the field of view by 50%. The lense is under 500 bucks, and from what I hear it is good, although I have never used one myself. Its also really slim, making it useable even while a matte box is mounted. It's also a screw on adapter, meaning you can still use the DVX's shade with it. hope this helps!

I'm currently useing the Century Opics .6x and I'm pretty happy with it. But you can not zoom through on it. The .7x though can be zoomed through and looks great.

I saw the red eye at NAB and it looked cool but I didn't see it on a camera.

Sony and Panasonic both make WA adaptors for the FX1/Z1 and DVX respectively. These adaptors have 72mm threads and you can use the Sony on the Pana and visa versa.

Hey, they're only 0.8x but full zoom through and (where I am at least) the Panny is much cheaper than the Century options. The DVX is pretty wide anyway... I hardly use my adaptor.

If anybody has used the 72mm 0.5x Redeye Wide Angle Adapter with the DVX... Does it vignette at all or allow partial zoom thru?

I use the century .7 which is winderful and considered the best one on the market. It is expensive though, and heavy. I love and and a wide will be one of the fist things I buy for my HVX200 this winter, or whenever it comes out. I can't imagine making movies without it!

No way I'd buy one of the cheap ones that don't zoom through.

Be patient and in a little while a lot of people will be upgrading to HVX and seling their DVXs and stuff that won't on the HVX like the wide lens.

I have the Century .7x and it is definately huge. It is supposedly the best wide angle available, and I feel that it is very soft around the edges at full wide, so I would be concerned about getting a cheapie WA.

I personally have the Century Optics (C.O.) .07x and love it... yes it's heavy, but the zoom-thru is great for run and gun situations...

If you are really on a budget, this seems to be a cheaper DIY solution.. http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/DVXlens.html

I had a similar post about wideangles for my dvx also.
The replies from my post was amazing - DVXUSERS prrovided a lot of input - "THANKS EVERYONE"

I finally broke down and ordered a century .7 seems to offer all I need - a wider angle and zoom through.

The red eye looked inticing but was not sure.

The people on this site are awesome!
