Wide Angle Lens

I'm thinking about purchasing the .7X Wide Angle lens for the DVX from EVS. The cost is around 700$. Does anyone have any experience with these lenses? This lens you can also zoom with. Any help or suggestion very appreciated.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Hi jerbuds, since no one answered, I will see if I can help you. The 0.7 is about the perfect amount of wide angle you want on the DVX, any more and you get very obvious distortion. The DVX lens is already a full wideangle, and this is 30% wider. It allows a full non-focus-changing zoom across the full focal length. It is a bit heavy, so a big battery on the back acts as a good counterbalance. It makes hand-held shooting a bit painful if you don't use some kind of support device. The optics are pristine, no color shifts or inconsistencies across the screen, and they are multicoated. They lock on the camera with a bayonet mount rather than screw-on, so they stay on better. You have to be careful when using them, not to bump them against walls, because that may damage the camera's lens. 99% of the time that never happens, buut you have to pay extra attention. Post if you have specific questions. :cheesy:

Have you looked at the Century .6 wide angle... That's what I have and I really, really like it.
Since the DVX already goes to the equivalent of a 35mm wide angle, I wanted something that noticeably increased the focal area. It is terriffic optically but it does limit the zoom level... although with that much of a wide angle, do you really want to zoom in that much?
I also got the close up diopter from Century... now that is really nice and creates a narrow depth of focus on those close up shots. I use it a lot for museum shows.
I hope you get something you are happy with.
Dale
