"Wide angle" filters really necessary?

I've noticed that when you go shopping for 72mm filters, you see regular filters (threaded front and back) for less $. Then you also see "wide angle" filters (threaded only on the back) for more $.

Given the widest angle of view with the DVX, just wondering if there is any vignetting at the corners with regular filters.

Any experiences?

Thanks,
David

Normal filters dont vignette unless you stack 3, sometime 2 on top of each other. wide angle filters, which are usually called slim filters, are really thin in desing and usually are intended to go on the last layer, usually being a UV for protection.

They are thin so dont vignette as much as the normal double threaded.

The price shouldnt be more, but thin filters are usually made by better companies like b+w etc. so the quality is higher.
