i have been having some discussions with my friend about wether the HVX200 can accept the Dvx100's wide angle or telephoto adapters, can or can not?
please clarify for us.
thanks in advance!

Accessories intended for the DVX can be made to fit on the HVX by using a step down ring. The problem with the use of the ring is that the accessory lens will not be the same distance from the camera's lens so the ability to focus at infinity may be effected. Also, vignetting will likely occur due to the smaller diameter so full wide may not be usable.

SplitVision's numbers are off. The DVX has a 72mm thread, while the HVX has an 82mm one.

Hello, Bill Turner from Schneider/Century here.

Based on what I know, do not expect wide angle converters for the DVX100's to be compatible with the HVX200. The wider angle and larger diameter of the HVX200 lens will almost undoubtedly result in significant vignetting.

Some wide angle adapters and telephoto converters might work optically but would need mechancal modification or adaptation to fit and work properly on the HVX200.

A more likely scenario would be the ability to adapt optical accessories for the HVX200 to the smaller DVX100.

Bill, I saw the prototypes at Burns & Sawyer. When will they be available?
any idea how much more they will cost over the DVX?

There's a rumor that you're having trouble with full zoom through wide angle. Is this true?

Dear Icarus,

We expect the .6X and 1.6X tele to be available shortly after the first of the year (in January) and the prices to be approximately the same as the accessories for the DVX100. A fisheye for the HVX200 should be available in Feb of 2006.

There is no problem with the zoom thru .75X wide converter for the camera. The issue is the characteristics of this lens ( 4.2mm wide angle, larger diameter front element, etc) require a completely new design. The design, prototyping and production of a completely new converter takes a number of months. We expect to begin delivery late first quarter of 2006.
