Ever since ive had my dvx100a ive been dealing with a problem capturing into vegas 5. Whenever I capture into vegas, the beautiful, rich images that my camera produces, become flat and desaturated the minute their put into vegas. While capturing, the preview shows the video in its original, desirable quality. Its only when the clips go into vegas that they become ugly and flat. Can somebody PLEASE tell me why this is happening and what might be done to fix this infuriating problem. Im sure everyone here can imagine how horrible it is to see the amazing images a dvx puts out go bad, i cant take it any longer. Thanks a million.

If the problem was that I am looking at, say, 'draft' quality in vegas, the problem would no doubt resolve itself once i had exported as a quicktime file, which it does not. am i wrong?

make sure there isnt a "track Video effect embbeded in there" some how i got a Magic bullet effect embedded in my first track so for weeks im like, "god my LCD on my DVX is sooooooo much brighter than what it records......." until i noticed the little bugger somehow got attached. itrs over near the trackmotion /opacity bar.

maybe you got a desaturate preset from the Vfx in there somehow.

The LCD is usually set much brighter than the actual picture.
Your computer is not a production monitor.
Quicktime is a pita and gets washed out on a pc if you're not careful.

There is nothing Vegas can do to your footage other than what you do to it.

Yes. It's the difference between viewing your footage on the LCD or on a TV and viewing it on a computer monitor. They're different.

If you're rendering for viewing on a computer screen, go into the color correct effects and choose "Studio RGB to Computer RGB" and apply it to your footage. Chances are, it will instantly look much more like what you were expecting to see.

yeah, i had thought of it being my monitor, but ruled that out because while capturing it shows the right image, just not in vegas. The studio rgb to computer rgb really did the trick though. thanks a million

Yeah, the capture app shows you what you want to see, not what is really on the tape. Evil, evil capture app. :)
