why so many 16:9 sets?

I went into circuit city and like 90% of the TV's are wide screen. We have talk here about TV broadcasting in 4:3 and probably will for a few years. You would think there would be more 4:3 sets.

Maybe people are more concerned about watch a movie widescreen that a TV show 4:3.

I just have to wonder how fast the 16:9 thing is going to take over. I wonder how hard it will be for TV stations to make that change?

Most TV shows are already shot in 16:9. They're broadcast either in letterbox or cropped for 4:3 TVs. As for how hard, not very. Pretty much all of the changes happen on the acquisition end, not the broadcast end.

There are widescreen sets because they're flat screens. People want the flat screen primarily (LCD or plasma). There are very few tube-based widescreen sets anymore.

The transition to 16:9 sets is happening, perhaps driven more by the thickness of the set than by the shape of the screen.

I guess since most should have went digital now and some can do HD it probably wouldn't take much. Even the local PBS station has HD.

Why cant you get past 9999 already. Be like Nike, and Just Do it.

Even the majority of commercials nowadays are 16:9.

He was at 9,999 a while ago when he told us he was off to get married.
He deleted one of his posts to forestall the video, I think.
