why not real???

The colors of the orange look stronger than the background. Possibly too crisp for a moving object...a moving orange might be spinning and would have some blur. And the orange seems to fall a tad too slow. Just my 2 cents.

agreed on the lighting... if you look at the shot of the real orange at the end, it's lit differently. Also, if you look at your motion path of the falling orange, once its set against the footage, the orange actually curves as its falling down. Not realistic there.
Back off the contrast and saturation as well... will help a bit.

Your motion blur also doesn't match the footage. Perhaps try compositing in 32bit mode (use eLin if you're not on AE7). Play with matching the grain of the footage into the orange as well.

Just a few ideas.

Use the real orange and motion blur the layer.
There is no light burning the fake orange too.

About the path as kai mentoned it seems like an orange with a magnet :D
Use a straight path.

Motion blur will remove fakeness for such sort time.

Well that one is worse i think.. the orange might look a tad bit better but falling looks too slow and when it moves... it doesn't even look closely like its going toward his hand to catch it, its too far left.

Give the dude a break at least he is trying.
Surf it's better now, focus on photorealism now.
Think.
The orange falling from the sky should be burned by the sunlight.
Don't forget the motion blur. It is still off or low cause the layer is moving slowly (not falling).
It seems it is higher than it should be too.
Anyway link to the clean video so people here with suggestions can try. It's not an easy job to fake reality in motion graphics unless you are using 3D.
I would make a 3D orange so to be realistic.

ok.
in that video the orange is 3D. I have modelled the orange, the camera movement, the sunlight and I have used gravity field too. motion blur is 3D motion blur.then I have composited the 2 layers, colour corrected the orange, and fixed the motion to the little wriggles of the camera.
