why isn't assassination of jesse james at video store?

I read that the release date of The Assassination of Jesse James was Feb 5. Yet neither the Blockbuster or the Hollywood Video that's by me carries it. I thought that was strange, considering it stars Brad Pitt and a 2007 Academy Award nominee. Anybody know why this is?

Because it's a snoozefest. The cinematography is beautiful but the rest is an exercise in self-indulgence.

they need more space on their shelves for masterpieces like daddy day camp and good luck chuck. and that football movie with the rock, whatever that is called. at my blockbuster they have dedicated two full columns to it.

I'm somewhere between Blaine and Nic. Cinematography was, of course, incredible.

The story is a little slow, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I watched a special on it and it was nearly all historically accurate.

my favorite response was cryogenic's. But seriously, this movie disappeared off the face of the earth. There are much worse movies that have gotten video releases than AOJJBTCRF. There's gotta be a story behind this.

Come on now, no more spoilers... it is in my NetFlix queue and as soon as Army of Shadows gets back to them, it will be on it's way to me.... I am a fan of westerns, I have no problem with Brad Pitt, and I have an interest in the history of the James Gang, but I have one reason to see this filck. Roger Deakins.

I rented it from Blockbuster... Then again Charlotte, NC is a Mecca of film taste compared with anywhere in CA... We are the home of NASCAR, the sport of kings

(let's hope the sarcasm came through on that one)

Hey we won the Stanley Cup. And we're the home of the Nextel Cup. Who else can say that? NC! NC! NC! Other than that, mostly hog farms and shut down textile mills. NC! NC! NC!

Back on topic. Brick and mortar stores will be carrying less titles as they fade out. Hard choices will have to be made. For example, you should be able to easily source every American Pie feature at Blockbuster, but will find less than seventeen foreign-language features in total.

Ask the kid at the Hollywood Video counter if he's seen (or got) Greed and he'll likely seize up in a drooling, stupefied glaze. After seven minutes of babbling, he'll tell you it was his favorite Jack Black movie and he thought Ben Stiller "was rather good in it".

Rachel Weisz, Jack Black and Ben Stiller in the Barry Levinson comedy-smash, Greed.

It's about priorities.

HAHA!

I guess I'll have to go buy it. I've been looking forward to it for quite awhile. The girl at the Hollywood Video store actually got kind of angry when I brought it up. "No, we don't have that movie. Everybody keeps asking about it and we don't have it." All right, all right, calm down sweetheart...
