Why is this subforum in Off Topic anyway?

[youngindiefilms]

I'm a bit disappointed that there is so little discussion on shooting film here.
Shouldn't be this one level up with it's own forum, sub forums for 8 to 35mm formats? Why 'Off Topic', the forum is about film making.

I can only guess, but seems rather logic to me that there is not much going on because it's really hidden.

There is little film love here at DVXuser.

Film? What's that?

There is little film love here at DVXuser.

Maybe there would be more if this forum wasn't packed away

Think of it as 'exclusive' or 'the best kept secret' on dvxuser

[youngindiefilms]

OK Ryan, hahaha.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to shoot a short or music video on film very soon

I think it might be because this is primarily a "video" forum. Or maybe a digital acquisition forum.

I love film, but it's expensive - and it makes me sad. But what's worse is SD transfers to mini-dv from film*. That makes me depressed.

*common film school practice.

I was actually wondering about that. What is the drawback with SD transfer to Mini DV and what would you recommend?
