Why is the tension controller on my Manfrotto 502 head stuck?

Just bought a video tripod head for the first time (came with Manfrotto 526B legs). The tilt tension knob works fine but the red pan tension screw seems to be stuck...doesn't budge one bit:

Edit: Ah I cant delete this thread...found the solution. It was obviously stuck on one end (makes me wonder if the manufacturer does that or someone used this previously) so I just had to give it a good turn to the other direction. Loosened right up and works like a charm.

I realize that this thread is almost a year old, but this seems to be the only indication that I am not the only one with this problem. I too just recently purchased the 502 head and I'm wondering how Stuntman321 got it fixed (if he/she still browses this forum) and/or any suggestions as to how to loosen the thing up again. My head will NOT turn in either direction no matter how much force I and others give it. Even with one person holding the panhandle and the bridge and the other turning in the opposite direction it will not budge at all. I've tried blasting it with heat from a hair dryer hoping that would loosen it a little, but to no avail.

I'm still within the 30 days from B&H though I'd rather fix it myself and not have to go through the hassle of a RMA (2+ weeks until I have a usable tripod again). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I have the same problem, bought it, and the red thing is impossible to turn in any direction! Any advise,

thank you
