I've tried to search many things on this forum and it is seems to be very loose and inaccurate and pulls everything up whether it has anything to do with my question or not. Is it how I am searching or is the search engine itself? I love this forum but I have a love/hate relationship with its search engine.

I'm not a big fan of the search engine here either - but searching these forums is the best way to gain knowledge. So I use google. Just toss in dvxuser to your search string and the first couple will be from this site. Then click on "show more from this site" and it does! Its fast, and you doesnt tax the dvxuser server or limit you to one search per minute.

Try (go ahead, I dare you) to search for "Vegas P2". Even TLAs (such as "MFX" don't work. Really.

The Google trick sometimes works, but it's not always up to date.

The other issue is the 60-second limit for searches.

By penalizing people for using the search feature, you can't them for posting without searching first.

To make searching better we must: 1) allow two-letter acronyms, and (2) reduce the time-limit for searches.

exactly

I'm sure the 60 second limit is for bandwith purposes. I agree it can sometimes get annoying, but I use google most of the time like others.

It has been stated many time before that it is because of bandwidth the 60 second rule is in place.

Although I am sure for the same reasons, the lack of three letter search ability is very annoying for this field.

i did the google method for "vegas p2" and it gave me tons and tons of results.

i typed "Vegas P2 site:www.dvxuser.com" in google and here is the results page.

http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=Vegas+P2+site:www.dvxuser.com&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

There also needs to be better "advanced search" options to filter results.

Find in title, or in content of thread, by date range, have contains AND, OR, but NOT, etc. - all easily selectable as options and filtering... more robust options.

Aren't the search functionality issues really with vBulletin? Mods can't do anything about the software package...
