Why is my FCP frozen?

Can anyone please help me to figure out why the image on the timeline is locked and remains frozen while I press play? It only shows the still of the frame I stop at. After years of editing on this FCP (version 5.0.4), it has never happened before. I tried other FCP projects and even switching hard drives in case the hard drive was freezing up, but the problem remains always.

Has anyone experienced this or know what it could be? Your help would be most appreciated.
 
OK, everything is finally working again after shutting down, waiting and restarting the computer. Must have been something with the computer's hard drive. Been a long day. Thanks.
