Why interlace only option?

Hi guys hope you can help me understand, I use FCP 6 and when I take 7d footage which is 1080p why when I put on a 1920 x 1080 timeline is the only option on aspect ratio only hdtv 1080i? why is there not an option for HD 1920x 1080 option or alternative HDtv 1080p progressive option. Seems like I go from capturing in a progressive data then to an interlaced editing then have to deinterlace when posting back out to quicktime? Is there any quality loss issues here?

Sorry if noob question am still relatively new to this

Those are just presets and are really just guidelines. You can change the info in any of those boxes to your liking.

For 7D footage choose 1920x1080 s your frame size, square pixel aspect ratio, and "none" under field dominance.

Oh so its not actually changing my footage to interlace, so I dont have to select deinterlace when exporting to quicktime?

Thanks for getting back to me
