Why don't more wedding videographers do this?

oh yeah, definitely. i could see a couple watching that and being like...yup, that's our guy! where do we sign??

Smart idea and another example that your previous work or reel might get you in the door, but people are going to hire based on how well they know, like, and trust you. This little video leaves me and all the other viewers feeling like we already know this guy.

I'm actually in talks with a friend of mine who is a photographer who might shoot my sister's wedding photos for me in exchange for me creating a video similar to this for her and now I have a great example to show her.

It's like getting to know your Kitchen remodel contractor! Everyone is so picky about finding the right man for the job.

Great post right on time as I'm in the mids of re-designing my site and the summer is coming. Time to get to work!
thanks for sharing Dan!

Really nice demo reel for a crack wedding photographer. Love how he shows himself with his family. This guy makes some serious bucks and seems pretty smart and talented. This is a really smart approach that I have rarely seen in the wedding market.

Ive been thinking of something like this for awhile - not for wedding though. Just a quick promo really.

You should go for it Noel. I think we could start a new trend in demo reels, real people's stories who do this. Much more interesting than looking at a random collection of clips with no context, no background and not really caring.

I have looked at enough reels (at least a few thousand at this point) to really not be impressed by very many of them so I think seeing a reel for an editor, DP or director that really shows off their point of view and outlook on their work is a hell of a lot more compelling than a bunch of random clips in a lame montage with lame copyrighted music that you have heard on other people's reel.

Do it Noel!
