Probably old news but I was watching the DVD The Day After Tomorrow with the commentary by the DOP Ueli Steiger, and he casually mentions that on the interiors that were set up too look like New York and Tokyo street scenes, he used...wait for it... 2,000 2k lights underneath a light blue coloured silk.

Mmmmmm?

Well there goes that idea.
