Why does FCP 6 exclude the 'additional easy setups' putting them in a folder

I just got a new Mac and did a fresh install of FCP 6. I noticed when dropping a ProRes422 clip into a new project and a new sequence I didn't get a easy setup message saying "clip does not make sequence settings, would you like to change sequence to match your clip".

This confused me because I didn't recall having issues with my past mac. I checked my "easy setup" settings and noticed ProRes422 wasn't included as a format to use. After looking around on the internet I realized there is an additional folder directly under the FCP folder in applications that is labeled "Final Cut Pro Additional Easy Setups". It's full of setups missing by default from the FCP easy setups settings.

I had completely forgotten that I must have installed the additional easy setups on my last mac. I don't even know what setting I should use (which would be best) since I'd even forgotten installing them--the program simple worked.

1.) First off, why does FCP exclude them? Wouldn't you think ProRes422 would be a popular easy setup?

2.) What setting would be the best? My footage is primarily h.264 from my Canon 5Dmark2 or HDV from my HV20 but what setting is best for overall compatibility.

3.) What the heck is the difference between the different language folders?!?! Shouldn't the codecs be the same?

4.) How do you install them!? :) (sorry, I'd forgotten and searches are coming up empty!)

I don't know, but it's likely that they are redundant for most pros who have capture cards installed since the drivers for the cards often setup their own custom easy setups. In my case, I've never had to use the Apple presets because I just use the ones that came with my AJA Kona LHe card.

For the 5D, you can convert the files to ProRes using Compressor, then use a ProRes sequence preset to edit your footage. For HDV, start with an HDV Easy Setup (I believe the 1080i 60 preset for the HV20). Then go to Audio/Video Settings and change the capture preset to HDV-Apple ProRes 422 (HQ if you want). It's explained further here. I personally don't have much experience with this (don't have a 5D or a HV20).

The codecs are the same, only the description text you see in FCP for each preset changes depending on the language.

4.) How do you install them!? (sorry, I'd forgotten and searches are coming up empty!)

I believe you need to copy them to /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Custom Settings
