Why Do The Colors Change?

When I render my file out to wmv or mpeg-2 the color becomes more orangey / saturated than it looks in my preview, this seems to be less of a problem with rendering to quicktime. I HATE THIS! I want my skin to stay looking like skin and my blacks to stay looking like black, what’s the point of color correcting if rendering is gonna F it up anyway!

How are you viewing the rendered wmv and mpeg2 files? Are you viewing the MPEG2 on the computer or on a DVD player/TV? The colors will be different when viewed on a computer vs. a TV. This is why it is necessary to have a calibrated video monitor for accurate color correction.

If you are viewing them on the computer, are you using Windows Media Player, or some other player? If Windows Media Player, you might want to check that the color enhancements are not enabled. Click the little button right under the N in Now Playing and click Show Enhancements, then check the Color Chooser.

Correct. You will find that the TV loves RED. It usually looks like crap on your LCD or Computer monitor but will look fabulous on the TV. Unless you have a computer monitor that is capable of being calibrated. Mine are horrible Night and Day. Never trust your computer monitor. It's like having a blind man help with color correction. USELESS!
