What is wrong with this cartoon I ask?? Everything it seems! It caused my thread to be closed and several posts ( mine and other people's ) deleted

Whatever happened to freedom of expression?!?

Edv I am right there with you.

An interesting thread. I was trying to post a response in the midst of the closing.

This is ridiculous. The cafe has been dead as a fart with threads going unanswered for days. For once in recent times, an interesting thread was developing with ideas being exchanged. I for one enjoyed it.
Aside from a steady stream of techno talk.....this site seems to be becoming less relevant with every month.

So to back up the op, why close a thread because of a cartoon and/or a few responses?

Political Correctness gone mad I'm afraid. And that's the type of humor you find in newspapers and magazines all the time!! Is political satire not allowed in DVXuser ?

Whatever happened to freedom of expression?!?

The First Amendment only applies to the government. DVXUser is a private forum and users post at the pleasure of the mods/site admin.

I know any whiff of politics gets squashed here but I think closing the thread is overkill. Just remove the 'offending' post, leave an explanation and let the thread continue.

It's pretty much laid out in the ground rules that it's NOT.
And I'm not saying I'm a fan of the cartoon itself, but why lock up the whole thread because of one or two questionable posts? Why not just delete them & play on? Just wondering out loud because it seemed like we were on to a good discussion.

1) IF SOMETHING GETS DELETED, DO NOT REPOST IT.

2) Take up moderation issues in PMs.

3) That thread was generating more heat than light.

Is political satire not allowed in DVXuser ?

1. No Politics
We've tried it and it doesn't work. There are many other sites where you can discuss politics, just not this one.
'Politics' includes not only directly political content, but any controversial topics, current affairs, or other news-related issues. If you see something non-film-making related reported in the media, and you know there are strong feelings about it on either side of the issue, please do not bring it up here. The 'no politics' rule also extends to discussing the political content of films and television shows, or to videos with political content, even if posted for a video-related purpose. The Mod staff may grant very limited, specific exceptions in cases of exceptional film-related interest, but only with prior approval, and any such thread will be heavily moderated. Moderators will make the final decision as to whether or not a specific post belongs on this site.

That rule has been in place for many years.
