Why? concert

Your question is entirely too vague. You might receive some helpful responses if you ask specific questions and give some more info.

60i (or p if you have it) at a 1/60 shutter, white balanced to 3200K, iris wide open (you'll probably need it). As far as gain goes I wouldn't go past 3db but you might have to if its dark (grainy footage is always better than dark footage as far as concerts are concerned, but don't be too worried about lighting effects being too dark as long as its bright enough at certain points). I'd avoid using on camera color settings or any other type of things.

If you have one camera, keep a stationary master shot through the whole event. There is nothing more distracting than seeing someone zooming around, plus don't stop recording though the show or else you'll have sync issues with audio.

If you have 2 cameras, sync them together (use a clapboard or a flash), keep them running through the show and then switch them in post. I'd keep one shot master and the other shot getting close/medium shots of the band. Find your 2nd camera shots and keep them steady for a long time (I mean a long time, longer than you might think). It's surprisingly easy to be swinging your camera around to different parts of the stage, but you really want to have shots that you can rely on.

As far as audio goes, my trick is to put a pencil condenser (or a shotgun mic) on the master camera (or as close to the center as possible) and record a feed off the sound board (just ask, sound guys are usually very willing to give you a pre-mixed feed). You can then mix both together until it sounds good. (just the PA sounds fake, and just the condenser sounds like crap, so find a happy medium where you can recreate the right atmosphere... remember you aren't looking for pristine quality, just the right live show kind of feel)

Keep your cameras powered throughout the entire event (again ask, power is easily available), bring plenty of tapes, make sure you aren't getting in the way of anyone, and wear ear plus.

PM me if you need any more specific advice
