Why Can I Not De-interlace My Footage?

You don't want to deinterlace 24p material. Pulldown removal is what you want. The two are not the same thing.
 
David > There arent any pulldown removal options in the preferences per say right ? The only place ive seen some pulldown option was in the preferences menu. Are there any other options located elsewhere ?
 
Vegas Pro 8 has a bug btw and it won't de-interlace in the *preview screen* any miniDV footage, even if you told it to. It does so fine for HDV though. Vegas Movie Studio 8 doesn't have this bug, it seems to be a new one on Vegas Pro 8.

Yes, I am sure. I have both VMS8 and Vegas Pro 8. Both with pretty much identical project settings. Both on good or best. VMS will de-interlace in the preview window when you tell it to do so, while Vegas Pro won't. Again, this bug only happens for miniDV footage, it works fine for HDV.
