Why are apple displays so expensive?

Just about to pick up a new display either 20", 22" or 23",

Looking at sumsung or apple, at the point apple is almost 2.5 times as expensive as samsung,

And anyone explain why?

apple uses S-IPS panels in all of their displays. most cheap (sub $0-$350) lcd's use TN panels. each have different visual properties. S-IPS are the best of the bunch for color accuracy/reliability, but many users are fine with PVA panels (middle of the road). TN panels are terrible and I wouldn't touch them.

this question is total flame bait, btw.

Dell uses all 3. Their "E" series of inexpensive LCDs are TN. Most of their 20" and 24" displays are PVA. The Dell 30" is S-IPS.

Just curious- why is this in the EX1 forum and not the FCP/Apple forum or something like that? Seems like if you own an EX1, you shouldn't really be concerned about price! :)

just posted here cause i post most my post here, should of really posted in hardware or somthing like that, just a EX1 user thats all.

I can't see why someone who owns a EX should not be concerned about price, the EX is a pretty cheap camera really for what you get, if i wasn't paying for it that would be a different story:)

Price should always be an issue, even if i was loaded i would still like to get a good deal and not over spend just to get the top of the line products which is a road some people in this industry take.

Besides, most things you pretty much get what you pay for.I just wanted some justification to the price of the apple displays.
