Whose keeping up?

I just cant keep up with the traffic on the cafe alone . . . let alone the other threads. If you are away for an hour threads slip right into page 3 or 4 like slapdragon went too fast . . . and if you are away for even an hour it takes 25 mins to read up to date! . . . Can you ever keep up . . . this is more like a chat room than a forum! ;D

I have said it once and I'll say it again, we need a chatroom. Keep the message board for ongoing dialogue/issues, but use the chatroom for chit-chat and freak'n smileys!

I blame guys like TC and Bluespider. They seem to sit, waiting for something to pop up. They must not have kids. Or maybe they work for the government.

Atleast TC and Bluespider provide useful information once and a while. I can't say the same for myself. If you ask a question about 24pa, NLE, or 16:9, I'll just make a ;D and a wise-crack so I can feel accepted into the club. Also, this is my only opportunity to chat/joke-around in English. :(

I GOT NO WHERE ELSE TO GO!!!!

A chat room would be easier to mod than messing with posts... in a chat room enough people could just tell someone to shutup, or ban them... It's all realtime conversation instead of psuedo conversation in the email-like forum scenario. That said, it's a beastly tax on a server.

I agree with Kai. Mods wouldn't necessarily have to moderate it, just like any other chatroom. It's real-time so any junk (political, religious, racist) posts would just be forgotten. Plus, if you don't like someone, then put them on your banned list and you never have to see them again.

Or maybe the chatroom could be a benefit to long-time members. Once you become a Gold Member then you are given the key to it. (Like an executive restroom.) Try it.

I dunno. Someone tried to set up a DVXuser chat on IRC a while ago and it never really built up much steam. If there was something integrated into the board software, it would probably be a lot more successful, but at this point the server couldn't really handle it.

And BTW, we mods can *smell* a political post. ;D They don't last long before one of us takes care of it. But I really expect posters to self-moderate--and mostly everyone does.

You see I just get back 33 posts later . .. the time difference doesnt help, most stuff happens whilst we are asleep . . . it is like Jack and the Beanstalk . . you wake up to find a nothing has grown into a gaint tree.

As for chat rooms . . . I think the forum works well and is undoubtly sucessfull . . . you wouldnt be reading this if not so . . . hehehe . . . Ijust think we are growing and I am not catching up :D

I agree with Dakota, this was yet another 2 pages that I needed to keep up with this morning! I can't tell you guys how many times I've been late to class because I've gotten caught up reading all of your witisisms. ;)

The chat room thing is cool, but everyone is always on at different times. For the most part, a lot of us are one in the same time span in the evenings... but when I'm surfing I'm usually doing it while doing homework or working on a script or something. For me, a chat room would be too much of a temptation to screw around with you guys all night.

... which is really what I do anyways. But... oh nevermind.
