whos call?

I have been working on a pretty low budget ad recently I did the dp/lighting/sound and editing. The person that commisioned me to do the project had power stuggles with her previous editor on what should be etc. this person doesn't have much experince with video. I have had much artisitic freedom up to this point especailly with shooting it since there wasn't a strict storyboard. I did a rough edit and the problem is that this person has some things they want changed but in very (what I consider) cheesy ways. What do I do? I know that this persons word is final but aside from trying to encourage her do I have any say have badly my footage can be butchered in general?

If she's the director, then other trying to talk her into making what you believe are better choices, then you have one option... walk away...

No. Do the best you can with what she wants. If it hurts too much (and it will hurt) don't accept more work from her.

i've never shyed from telling a client how i feel about their notes. and they (everyone from disney to fox) always appreciate an honest appraisal. i use very "gentle" language, of course. and we don't always see eye to eye, but it's important not to sacrifice my reputation for the kind of work expected from me... especially, if you consider what i'm charging them. ;)
