"whoosh" sound effects

I noticed that in just about every history channel show and the like, whenever they use a transition of some sort or swap pictures, this is oftentimes accompanied by a "whoosh" type sound effect .. this is used in movies as well. i think most people don't even realize it's there. I also noticed it's ridiculously hard to find stuff like that cause "whoosh" isn't exactly a good search term
Do any of you have free versions of these or know where they can be obtained (by free i mean $0, not just royalty free), or can you give me tips on how to record or make these myself.. it seems like a pink noise with some flanging or something like that - i have adobe audition, audacity and cooledit .. all fo them are capable of various things like this, i'm just not terribly familiar with how to exactly do it.
tips appreciated.

I'm guessing that "whoosh" gave you results that were along the lines of a bamboo rod rabidly swung past the mic.

Try searching for flame ignitions and fireballs. The shüwush that accompanies flash frames is often the sound of a gasoline rapidly igniting. You can also create a similar effect by rapidly changing the EQ on a recording of a steadily burning fire.
