So I found the above stick with lighting setup examples to be very helpful so I made some videos. If anyone wants to join in I have a group on vimeo, it would be great resource for everyone.

Lit with a 1K Mickey Mole as the rim light and a 500W halogen work light coming in through the window. The overhead lights were dimmed to fit the scene. All shots were with the flycam 5000. There is a lighting diagram at the end of the video.
Camera: Canon 7D
ISO: 200
Aperture: f/8
Shutter: 1/50
Lens: 35mm Computron M42
This short consists of four lighting setups. The first shot of the delivery boy walking up to the house was lit with a 1K baby solarspot gelled with extra CTB. The gel only covered the walkway, not the porch. A 1K mickey mole was shot up into the ceiling of the porch to simulate the porch light.
The second setup was for the recipient in the house. The baby solarspot was placed behind the subject and focused just above the door frame simulating the interior house light overhead and a 250W mini mole was placed on a c stand by the porch light to add contrast.
For the delivery boy dialogue the baby solarspot was moved outside to light the trees motivated by the garage/house lights. The mickey mole was bounced off the porch ceiling and a mini mole provided the contrast.
The final shot indoors was lit with the mickey mole bounced off the wall by the lamp (not in the shot) and two mini moles were placed on opposite sides of the character.
There are diagrams at the end of the video.
Camera: Canon T2i
ISO: 400
Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter: 1/50
Lens: Sigma 18-200mm OS @28-35mm
The first shot was lit with a 1K mickey mole gelled with full CTB as a rim light. Two 1K softboxes created the light from the TV.
Shot two was lit with one 1K softbox near the tv.
Camera: Canon T2i
ISO: 400
Aperture: f/2.8 and 5.6
Shutter: 1/50
Lens: Sigma 18-200mm OS @28 and Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 @ f/2.8
