Who uses the Cinevate Mattebox?

Since the RR MB takes so long to deliver, I was thinking about the Cinevate MB again: so anyone who can share their experience with it? Thanks!

I don't have one, but I rejected it for one major reason. The two stages are locked together, you can't rotate them independently. This means using a circular polariser and a graduated filter of any type, a common combination, is essentially impossible. Every time you rotate the polariser to the required angle, your graduated filter turns too, putting it out of whack.

Thanks, but that´s a bummer of course...
Is it quality build?
If I recall correctly, when it came out there posts about it being a Vocas or Cavision knockoff or just a OEM of that infamous indian mattebox...
No users out there?

Cinevate makes great stuff but their mattebox is something they haven't bragged about for a reason. It's much simpler than the redrock box and is pretty much the same build the indian unit. It's not going to be a "last mattebox you'll ever buy" type deal. If you go into it knowing that it'll get you by but it doesn't really compete with the rr box.

agree totally ...

I spent a long time thinking about a matte box because I've owned several cheap ones without rotating filters, light leakage ... plus not being able to remove the matte box easily to change lens. I got that in the RR matte box. Another one that seems quite good is by Hyson!

I´ve been watching the Hysonfilms site for so long (years?) and you can always read sth like "currently not doing regular business" on it.
I read about some personal problems and I understand, but right now I´m not feeling like doing business with them.

So IS the Cinevate just the indian mattebox with a rebrand?

Having used both I'll say the chance is high. I'm not interested in calling companies out so take from that what you will.
