Who recommends Quicktime 7 Pro?

I'm thinking about buying this program. How efficient is it? Specifically, how's the quality and reliability of the H.264 encoder?

It's all top notch, not to mention, really cheap. I fully support QT7 Pro.

QT7 Pro gets my vote as well. In fact, I've been doing the bulk of my web encoding with that lately.

Matulis, I love your signature. Oy, the insanity...don't people go to school anymore?

Thinking about purchasing QT7 pro but there are a ton of bad reviews on Apple's website. Does look like a smoking app though, especially for the price. Sure as heck beats Sorenson's price.

Thanks, Green. At first I thought it might be a 'feather ruffler' but then I realized that anyone who takes offense probably is in greatest need of the message, and anyone who likes it, gets it. The internet certainly hasn't done any favors for written language.

Hood River? Sweeeeet.

Some interactive stuff, FAQ----Q&A
Been using .wmv files. Disappointed in size (downloading time) and quality.
Reading about Sorenson,---but what of QT 7. Is it really an alternative? HOw much. Where do I get it. Sorenson is like,---expensive.
Matulis, you mention your using QT-7 for web encoding.
Can I ask you the process you use,---from timeline to web.
I use Vegas as my NLE.
You can tell how savvy I am right. Old guy here. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Anyway really ned somebody to walk me through process. Do you host projects or would you recommend them being hosted by,---well,---my host?
Gotta run.
Thanks

QuickTime Pro comes with several video export options. FCP adds a bunch to them - including a 'Sorenson light'. One thing that you don't get is an option for .wmv. (Perhaps this is because Macs and Windows Media don't play nicely together... I don't know.) From the FCP timeline, it's as easy as choosing Export, QuickTime Conversion and then picking your options for video, sound and compressed header, hinted streaming and such. (I'm paraphrasing as I'm at work and typing this on a PC.)

If you want an easy, fast way to compress files for the web with excellent quality at somewhat higher file sizes, I say go with QT Pro. If you want options up the wazoo, long encoding times and great results, go with something like Cleaner or Compression Master. All three have served me well, depending on the project.

I highly recommend it. It should be on every pro mac user's machine. Excellent for quick converts, saving files, etc. Not to mention to save all those HD trailers!!! :)
