Who plays an instrument?

Completely off topic but just curious who here plays an instrument?

After years of playing with a cowbell (or a guitar / bass guitar) I decided that I actually wanted to learn how to actually play the guitar and bought an acoustic/electric and signed up for some lessons at the community college where I am teaching.

Here is a picture off the site I ordered:

Just a Dean Guitar...

Who cares... so...

So - who here plays something?

Guitar, Bass, Drums and an Oboe....

used to be in the Disney Symphony Orchestra thing back in high school but I haven't played for a while...planning on selling my oboe and using to money to buy a cam...i'm thinking about doing the same with my guitar and bass....

Guitar, some piano, some singing. Toured in a band for a few years. Had the time of my life and met a lot of cool people.

And drank a lot.

Currently? Or so long since that even the muscle-memory is gone? :)

Clarinet, bass, guitar, keyboards. And computer.

And just bought a violin. And have a tenor sax in the attic.

Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Drums and Trumpet. Not poficient in any. Mainly play to write songs and record demos. Have not touched a Trumpet in 15-20 years and real Drums in almost as many.

Oh yea, I recently bought a Jews Harp but have not yet taken the time to learn how to play it.

Played keyboards for quite a while. Not sure if I ever figured out what the heck I was doing but managed to make a meager living faking it for a while. It was something I always wanted to do and eventually did it.

Guitar (mostly acoustic and classical now), bass, mandola, mandolin, alto and tenor recorder and a little piano.

Guitar (acoustic, preferably).

I don't want to start a "book" war, but after you get up to par just a bit, I highly recommend THIS book (Fretboard Logic). I've heard guitarists that have been playing for 20 years say it was the most astounding book, and they finally learned the "reasoning" behind how exactly the guitar works.

It's a great resource for beginners and masters alike. Seriously... unlike the other books that say on the cover "a great resource for beginners and masters alike", this one is.

p.s. I've always wondered which is "harder" or take's more time. Learning a foreign language from scratch, or learning a musical instrument? (yes, I know, some things come easier for certain people, but in general)

Major tinkerer here ->

keyboards (digital and analog) & VSTi plugins

MIDI Drums - stick and hand

exotic hand percussion- doumbek/djembe, talking drum, bodhran, Turkish drum, bongos, tabla, assorted perc. accessories

kalimba

stratocaster & acoustic guitars (looking at a 12 string, mmm mmm)

native american flutes and recorders

jew's harp (yes, it's an instrument)

theremin

many homemade gizmos

... looking into getting or making a water harp and an udu

Very cool! This just fits in with my hypothesis that film makers are multi talented people (unlike most of the zombies I get to work with :( ).

I play a piano, guitar, used to play a bass (wow! 25 years ago?), a bit of recorder. I wish I had the time and the resolve to play more... but I don't, so, I suck...:(
